Ray Burns is traveling from Southern California to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where he will join up with his brother, Robert Burns. They will be taking a number of 360x360 immersion photographs of the buildings at the seat of the government of Canada. Then, they will head for the most northern station on Canada's VIA Rail system: Churchill! Churchill is on the Hudson Bay and is so cold that the wind chill will sometimes bring the temperature down to 50 degrees below zero Fahrenheit! Churchill is known for Polar Bears and the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Ray and Robert will spend 3 days in Churchill to photograph these and other interesting scenes from this cold and remote location. Then, they will head back for Ottawa where Ray will spend most of the rest of his time on this journey until he returns to Southern California in mid-February.
This travelogue will be posted in installments. As Ray Burns gets the opportunity between train changes to send the latest update of his travelogue and new photos, we will be posting them to the web and adding links to them from this page. New updates will be posted every 5 or 6 days over the next several weeks between January 5, 2001 and February 20, 2001.
