Steve,
Thanks for your reply on my Crescent experience. Yes, I wrote you last winter about what I felt about the viewliner cars after reading your web site.
This was a follow-up after my recent trip. By the way, I like your advice on tipping. I usually tip more since it is only I and only for one night. Mostly I am amazed at any service at all. But it is good to know your guidelines if I were traveling longer distances and with more people.
At 53 I am not about to climb into the upper berth unless someone else is with me. Although no one would consider me handicapped, my legs and knees were in such bad shape from April until recently that I had to give up my contra dancing and my walking for exercise. The public transit with stairs I took to work was all the pain I could take. My trip north was filled with such required situations for climbing, so no upper bunks for me. It is so weird being older yet feeling just the same as when young. Also, to go to doctors for a problem and having them unable to do anything for you because nothing is "broken."
I am doing a lot better now, back to 4-mile walks and hope to dance again soon.
I would just recommend that light-sensitive sleepers like myself take tape with them on the train.
Glad to hear that the train modules are really tough.
Aah--now I see what the problem is with the old sleepers. I guess the stewards just tell me what I want to hear. Still, I think I will write them about the unfairness of having to pay for double rooms. Thank you for keeping up the web page and other info.
