Are you interested in doing some research about the transportation infrastructure of this nation? TIP needs people to dig up facts and references, to write papers based on that material, and to obtain permission to post to the TIP web site works from other authors that have writen on this topic.
Most philosophies, ideas and proposals that you read from TIP are founded on quite a bit of reading of the history of the transporation system of America. Many of us just enjoyed discussing what we had found and exchanging ideas. We did not think we would ever be posting any papers on these topics where we would need to site our references.
Thus, TIP is now in the situation of having to work backwards. In order to even consider the articles posted here, the reader has to accept the assumptions on which they are based to be true. If they challenge those assumptions, then there is little room for argument until further research can be done to find the references that support those assumptions.
In some cases, the authors of the articles will endeaver to research and document their statements. In many cases, it may be a long time before the authors have the time to do that research. So, if you are interested in doing the research to document the statements made in the articles on these web pages, your help would surely be appreciated! We can certainly point out a set of books where this information is likely to be found.
Also, if you are inclined to write your own articles regarding the topic of establishing a more balanced transportation infrastructure, then please do submit them! Naturally, if you can document the facts, figures and other assumptions in your articles, that would be greatly appreciated and would avoid making our research backlog even larger.
If you would like to do some research for TIP or submit your own articles, then click here to send e-mail to steve@trainweb.com. Make sure you mention for what you are volunteering. There are many requests for volunteers on the TrainWeb pages and I won't know what you are volunteering to do unless you tell me in your e-mail message. Thanks!
