Effective January 5 through February 28, a special promotion will be
available for passengers on the Texas Eagle (Chicago-San Antonio &
intermediate points) and the Texas Eagle-California Service (Chicago-Los
Angeles & intermediate points).  

The Companion Fare program is designed to increase ridership during the
traditional after-Christmas slow period.  Under this promotion, the first
passenger pays regular fare, and the companion travels free.  The companion
must travel on the same itinerary and same day; good for travel through
February 28.

In addition to the Eagle, the companion fare program is effective on
Missouri and Illinois short distance trains (except Hiawathas), on Michigan
trains (except Pere Marquette), and on the Three Rivers and Pennsylvanian.
On the Lake Shore Limited, the companion pays 1/2 fare.  California
companion fares become effective January 12 through March 15 on the San
Joaquins, San Diegans, Capitols and their Thruway buses.
