The wooden Albuquerque Amtrak Station in New Mexico was burnt to the ground a few years ago. An empty cement pad and the station platform are all that remain of the old station. Now a small building across from the greyhound terminal serves as the Amtrak station.
Often you will find many Native Americans sell jewelry and other souveniers from tables on the station platform. The train usually stops here for quite a while so you usually have time to get off and look at the merchandise. The orange school bus sells food and other useful travel items that are not usually available on the train.
The photos in this slide show were taken in the mid-1990's by Steve Grande on his Amtrak travels throughout the nation. The size of the photos is purposely smaller as disk space was expensive and download speeds were slower at that time.
