Overland Trail
ALL ABOARD! The Overland Trail and her companion cars are historic rail passenger cars from the post-war Streamliner era, built after the end of World War II as part of large orders for new equipment to replace worn out cars. They are a unique and historic display of the elegance and class which railroading once stood for. The lounge car was the heart and soul of the train, a luxurious gathering point where one could sit back amongst friends and enjoy spectacular scenery racing past large picture windows, all the while, enjoying your favorite beverage. Music would play in the background, creating an atmosphere of gaiety and excitement which was shared by all. For the discriminating adventurer, yesterday's pleasures of railway travel are still at hand. Treat yourself, family and friends to California's beauty by rail as we journey along Santa Fe's famed surf line between Los Angeles and San Diego. Bill and Debbie Hatrick, owner/operators of the Overland Trail invite you to journey with them as they recreate a travel experience from the exiting era of the 40s. While on board, traditionally attired porters will serve you at your seat, recorded big band music sets the mood, and seaside vistas fill our large picture windows. Freshly prepared hors d'oeuvres / snacks / buffet service and a selection of beverages will keep you happy and content (included in your fare)! Everything for a wonderful trip aboard the time machine known as ... the Overland Trail!
Report for Duty Aboard the Overland Trail Join us for an exciting re-creation of life in the 1940's! We will have several veterans and their spouses on board as special VIPs, both from WWII and recent veterans just home from Iraq. While on board, they'll gladly share personal memories from their past experiences. Also along will be W.W.II re-enactors who will portray GIs, Sailors, Nurses, and civilians in period dress. Not to mention our own authentically uniformed regular staff of Porters, Bartenders, Barber, Stewardess and our Conductor. We encourage passengers to join in the fun and dress the part!
