TrainWeb is doing some critical updates prior to Y2K. While the TrainWeb server and e-mail system has been extremely reliable up to this time, this necessary update is causing some temporary outages.
If you have attempted to send e-mail to any site hosted on TrainWeb, you might have gotten that e-mail returned to you with a "midcom.midcom.com does not relay" error. If so, please wait for a while and then resend your message.
If you have a unique domain name hosted at TrainWeb, you might find it to be unreachable from time to time during this upgrade process. You might also find various pages at TrainWeb to be intermittently unreachable during this process.
The TrainWeb server and mail system are being worked on right now by our technical staff and that work will continue until all problems have been resolved. We expect our web server and mail system to return to their normal high level of reliability once these Y2K preventive upgrades have been completed.
Over the next few days we will be focusing all of our time and energy on trying to make the transition into the year 2000 as smooth as possible. Because of our reordered priorities, there will be a delay in adding new free web accounts to the TrainWeb server and new ring sites to the TrainWeb ring. There will also be a delay in answering e-mail and in dealing with any requests which are not critical to be completed prior to January 1, 2000. If you have requested a free web site, submitted your site to the TrainWeb ring, or have sent us e-mail that does not require an urgent answer, then please be patient. We will get to everything as soon as we can right after the first of the new year.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding for the temporary inconveniences that you may be experiencing while we prepare the TrainWeb site for the new millenium!
