LOCAL MODEL RAILROADERS SEARCH FOR NEW HOME

Garden Grove, Calif.--The Orange Coast Model Railroad Club announced today is has begun a search for a new location for the Club's layout. Currently located in Garden Grove, the Orange Coast Model Railroad is Orange County's largest permanent operating layout. The layout boasts over 300 feet of mainline track and has been an operating club in the community for over fifteen years with members from all over Orange County.

The Club's search began when founding member Steve Carroll announced that the layout's current location would lose its lease sometime in September or October. The entire layout has to be removed. Without a new location, the layout is in danger of being separated into pieces or destroyed and thrown in the trash.

Club member Kevin Jackson has begun coordinating efforts to find the OCRR a new home. He started by putting advertisements in local classified sections to find a new home. Jackson has also been writing local city and community groups with the hope that someone may have a building or room to donate to the Orange Coast.

"Our goal is to get our message out to the community with the idea that a person or organization will step up and help save the layout so that it can continue to be enjoyed by the community for many more years to come," said Jackson.

The layout encompasses approximately 800 square feet and features a variety of different land and cityscapes. Originally founded as a module club, the OCRR has grown both in size and membership over the years. The Club meets every Thursday night from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at European Cycle Specialties, 13851 A Better Way, in Garden Grove. The Club is looking for a building that can house the current layout but also allow future expansion and public viewing.

"Model railroading is a great hobby and we really hope that we can find a new building that lets us continue to build and develop the layout." said Jackson.
