New Luxury Train Service
From Montana Rockies Rail Tours. Sandpoint, Idaho - A return to the Golden Age of Rail, where guests travel in luxurious restored rail cars and are pampered with five-star service by a private staff, debuts this season in Montana Gold Service on the Montana Daylight, the nation's longest multiple-day, daylight-only tour train. Montana Gold offers luxury travel for 14 guests per trip in classic 1950s rail cars that have been restored in traditional mahogany, teak, and brass, and are situated at the end of the train. By day, guests travel in the Glacier Park, a dome-lounge and observation car with a private dining parlor and the open viewing platform favored by U.S. presidents on the campaign trail. By night travelers sleep in six double bedrooms with three shared baths and a master suite in the Gallatin River luxury sleeping car. An executive chef prepares fresh regional cuisine and a private steward serves the meals, hors d'oeuvres, complimentary beverages including premium wines and spirits, and daily formal afternoon tea. Operated by Montana Rockies Rail Tours from June to September, the Montana Daylight is the only train to Yellowstone national Park, traveling through the Rocky Mountains along a 478-mile route between Sandpoint, Idaho, and Livingston, Mont. The signature rail trip is three days, two nights, with extensions by deluxe motorcoach or private limousine into Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Glacier national parks or to private resorts and ranches where the tracks don't go. Other tours range from five to nine days. Travelers in the Montana Daylight's two other service levels ride the train during the day and overnight in hotels along the route. Value-priced Discovery service includes roomy reclining seats with abundant legroom and footrests, spacious picture windows, a deluxe deli-style lunch brought to each passenger's seat, daily continental breakfast, complimentary snacks and nonalcoholic beverages, a narrator who shares the legend and lore of the countryside, and airport transfers. Big Sky service adds seating in two-level restored dome cars and lunch in the traditional white-linen and china dining car with complimentary wine or beer. All travelers have access to the club car where snacks and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase.
