Three cars on a 26-car train derailed near downtown Torrance about 6:15 P.M. on Wednesday night, November 30, 1999, forcing the evacuation of about 70 families. David Fruth, a TrainWeb staff member who lives near the scene of the derailment, was able to grab his camera and get the photos posted on this page shortly after the derailment. The night scenes were shot on the evening of the derailment. The daytime scenes were taken the next morning after the derailment.
