Fullerton Railroad Days will be held on Saturday & Sunday, May 1 & 2, 1999, 9 am till 4:30 pm in the new Metrolink parking lot adjacent to the Fullerton Santa Fe Depot.
An Amtrak Pacific Parlour Car along with a Superliner Sleeping Car will be on display and available for you to walk through and explore! A BNSF diesel locomotive and Bill Hattrick's Overland Trail private car will be on display. The Overland Trail is the only lounge car with an operating barber chair still in service!
A new BNSF SD75M locomotive #8210 painted in the old Santa Fe War Bonnet colors will move to the new sidings at the Fullerton Santa Fe Depot sometime on Thursday afternoon, April 29, 1999. The exact hour is not known at this time.
A single train consisting of an F59PHI, a Pacific Parlour Car, a Superliner Sleeping Car, the Overland Trail, and one other private car is tentatively scheduled to be brought down from Los Angeles to Fullerton right behind Amtrak San Diegans Train #566 on Saturday morning, May 1, 1999. This is expected to be a separate train and not part of Train #566. It should arrive into Fullerton shortly after 6:42 A.M. Pacific Time. The two private cars will be backed into the siding closest to the mainline and then the remaining three pieces of Amtrak equipment will back into the siding closest to the loading dock.
All of the above train activity should be able to be viewed live on the FRPA WebCam.
Sometime after 4:30 P.M. on Sunday, May 2, 1999, the two sets of cars will be recoupled. The consist will then proceed through the wye located in Orange about 5 miles further south in order to head back to Los Angeles.
Note: The Santa Fe 3751 will not be on display at Fullerton Railroad Days but the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society (SBRHS) will have a booth at the event.
