www.trainweb.com/depotinn/chris3.html
Chris Guenzler will reach his one millionth rail travel mile setting a new record for passenger rail travel in North America in modern times as his train crosses the steel bridge over the Missouri River on Friday, April 27, 2007. This event will also mark Chris Guenzler's millionth rail travel mile on his road to sobriety.
Chris took his last drink more than twelve years ago when he pledged to travel by rail sober in every state of the nation. He achieved that goal a few years ago having traveled multiple times on every Amtrak route, every Canadian VIA Rail route, and most tourist railways and interurban lines in the nation. Now Chris will celebrate his record breaking millionth mile of passenger rail travel.
A departure celebration will take place at the Fullerton Depot on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 7 PM while we wait for the 7:20PM arrival of the eastbound Amtrak Southwest Chief. More than a dozen people will board the train with Chris for the on board celebration on Friday morning when Chris reaches his Millionth Mile.
A celebration is planned for the arrival of the train into La Plata, Missouri, at 9:57 AM on Friday, April 27, 2007. A day of festivities followed by a slide show of Chris' million miles of rail travel is planned to take place at the Depot Inn & Suites in La Plata, Missouri.
