When you arrive in your Amtrak Sleeper, you will find a fold-down table-top between the chairs with a white linen table-cloth and live fresh flowers! As you can see, there is plenty of room for a notebook computer and even an electrical outlet available so you don't have to worry about battery life.
You will also find a couple of pillows and coat hangers in your room waiting for you, and even a basket of soap, shampoo and conditioner. You will find plenty of clean towels in your room too!
These are the controls that you will find in every bedroom. The personal light is similar to those in airplanes. It can be turned on and off and aimed. You will find one of these by each seat in the room plus one by conveniently located to each bed when the room is converted at night to the sleeping configuration. There is also a heat/cool control and open/close vents that can be adjusted in each bedroom individually to your preference. You will also find a main overhead light that can be tuned on, off, or placed into a dim blue night light state. There are also several channels of audio where you can select just music, just announcements, or music and announcements combined (most prefered). There is even a button to call the Car Attendant.

This is the cabinetry that you will find in room #1, the Car Attendant's Room in some Superliner Sleepers. Most trains do not have this cabinetry.
Friends outside of a Superliner II Sleeping Car.
This is the stairway from the lower level to the upper level of the Superliner Sleeping Car. There are handrails on both sides. Two right angle turns are made on the way up. Despite appearances, it is not difficult for the average person to carry suitcases up and down these stairs. Since baggage can be checked and there is even a luggage rack on the lower level for full-size suitcases that you wish to keep with you on the train, you probably won't even be moving much luggage up these steps. Usually people just take small carry-on bags all the way up these stairs and directly into their room.
This is a view out a vestibule door on the lower level of the Sleeping Car. The vestibule runs right through the middle of the car on the lower level at right angles to the corridor. If both vestibules were open, there would be a passageway from the outside on one side of the train to the outside on the other side of the train. Both doors are seldom open since the station platform is usually on only one side of the train. In stations with multiple platforms, there are usually tracks on the other side of the train for those other platforms.
This is a view down the corridor on the lower level of the Sleeping Car. This photo was taken from where the vestibule intersects with the corridor that runs down the center of the train. On the lower level, there are 4 Economy Rooms and one Family Room in one direction down the corridor. In the other direction is 3 bathrooms, a shower/changing room, and a Special Bedroom for passengers with limited mobility. In this picture we are looking down the corridor in the direction of the restooms which you can see doors to on either side. At the end is a sliding door that closes off the Special Bedroom from the lower level corridor. On the upper level, the corridor connects at each end into other cars of the train. Since the Family Room and Special Bedroom at each end of the lower level of the train stretch across the entire width of the train, you cannot pass from car to car of the train on the lower level. You have to go to the upper level to move from one train car to the next.
