Three full-length dome cars similar to the above one are available to Amtrak West. Most of the time, two of them are operational on the Amtrak San Diegans route. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict with any precision which train will have a Dome Car! If you go to any station between Los Angeles and San Diego and are willing to wait around for 3 or 4 hours with two Unreserved Coach Tickets in your hand (one for a northbound trip and one for a southbound trip), it is very likely that a train with the Dome Car will arrive in the station during your wait.
